How to learn about your TY bean collection

1.This is Ty Teenie beanie babies "Sweetheart, the orangutan" TM by TY Inc., 1999.
To learn about your TY bean plush collection you may start buying one of the collector's field guides. I have Warman's Bean Plush field guide. There are several editions. Usually all the information is printed on the cloth or tush tag.  In the example above, the tag only has one side instead of two. And, the name of the this baby appear on both tags. The year it was released appears only on the tush tag. You need to learn about the different editions and their corresponding tags. You can always visit the TY website www.ty.com to learn about the most current releases.
You can have your TY toy certify, which increases the price. The condition of the toy and the presence of both tags matter for collectors, as well as the condition and readability of the tags. Still many people buy TY toys as miniature toys, and do not mind too much the presence of a certificate or the presence of the tags. For most folks they are just cute mini miniature toys.
TY toys have been popular for many years. Although they are not as sought after as when they first were released, they count with loyal fans.
Where do you buy your TY toys? You can buy them online at TY.com, on ebay.com or other auctions, as well as on amazon.com. There are many other toy stores that carry them. They are also common at thrift stores and antique, variety stores. However, to find a particular edition or beanie online retailers are perhaps the easiest.

Picture1. TY_1: corresponds to Teenie Beanie Babies Sweetheart the orangutan. You can also look for TY monkeys, or red burgundy monkey. He is sort of sleepy, cool looks guy.
